Every now and then, there will be some gems at Lidl.
The last time I got a gem was the ruby chocolate bar last year. This time I spotted the Deluxe Lumpfish roe 100g for £2.99 so didn't hesitate to get it which is cheaper than John West's lumpfish caviar which costs £2.80 for 50g.
Technically, this is fish roe because caviar only comes from wild sturgeon fish but anyway it is still a good bargain for that price and not many places sell it.
It definitely satisfied the fun of having something similar to caviar when you can't dine at restaurants due to c o v i d.
I've have always wanted to buy caviar from the shops in London where you get the mother of pearl spoon.
It is a big no no to use metal spoons on caviar because it tarnishes the silver and you don't want to taste the metal when having caviar.
Just for fun, I topped my crumpet with caviar and did some canapes with it.
Although it does not taste as strong as caviar it was still good and it is something you can impress guests or have some simple luxury at home when you can't dine out.
For those who are clueless how to serve lumpfish roe, they also sell blinis to accompany it.
Some pictures of caviar that I had at various restaurants:
Alaskan Crab Meat with Imperial Caviar in Du Barry Cream Sauce at Le Dôme de Cristal:
Seabream tartare with caviar and flying fish roe at Dot Cod:
Tartar di Manzo at Sorriso Italian:
for starters your a clueless clown ??? even this cheap worthless caviar, SHOULD BE SERVED WITH A BONE/MOTHER OF PEARL SPOON, ANY METAL DESTROYS THE FLAVOUR, YOU CHEAP CLUELESS PPL
ReplyDeleteYou sad, incompetent fool! To castigate someone for highlighting that Lidl is selling lumpfish roe at a cheap price, when you are unable to write a grammatically correct sentence. You can't even manage to start it with a capital letter, you use "your" when it it should be "you're" and even put a space before the question mark which is incorrect in written English! As to using a metal spoon, it will only impart a flavour if it is 'reactive' metal such as silver, which very few people use nowadays, and stainless steel (as well as the metal that the inside of the tin that most caviar comes in) is completely fine! People like you don't deserve to be let loose in comment sections of websites. Thank you supersupergirl for your original post.
DeleteThanks for the kind words, any how I need to get my facts right.
