Eel-less jellied eels and Lotus Tea at Chatsworth Market

As a lover of pie mash and jellied eels, I discovered that you could get fresh shellfish at Chatsworth Market from a post on Pie Mash appreciation group.

I was so ecstatic when I found out because I usually travel to Romford to get fresh brown shrimps, winkles and all that.

Chatsworth market is only held on Sundays so made a special trip to Homerton to get my shellfish fix!

Finally got to Chatsworth market and it was near the beginning so I didn't really have to look for it.

They had fresh shrimp, winkles etc which are all sold by pint but what caught my eyes were the tubs of jelly!

My eyes sparkled with excitement because I love the jelly but can't be bothered to eat the eels and here they were solely selling tubs of jelly!!!!!!

Some pie mash shops don't really sell jelly on their own except for Cockney's but you can request for extra jelly and here it was only a quid too! What a bargain.

To go with it, I added lashings of vinegar to it and the jelly was so comforting because it was basically savoury jelly with a umami taste like fish stock because it is made from boiled with eels and loaded with collagen from the eel skin.

I was so satisfied and happy after eating that tub of jelly that I was thinking whether I should get another tub.

A tea would definitely be a perfect after having some jelly.

It just so happened, the lady from the stall got some tea from the joint opposite so I went over to have a look and there were some unusual offerings like Lotus tea, Artichoke tea and regular Yorkshire Tea.

The stall owner was really nice and let me try their Lotus tea which turned out to be thirst quenching and had a lovely aroma so I ended up getting a cup of Lotus tea for 1.50.

The temperature of the tea was just right to appreciate it.

The lotus tea had a similar aroma taste to Jasmine but with a slight bitterness and basically if you have tried lotus wrapped food you will know the floral aroma I am talking about.

Overall, I was so glad I tried it because strangely I didn't come across any lotus tea in Asia.

The owner was really good and gave me some Artichoke tea bags to try at home which taste slightly sweet and woody.
