[Review] Farley's Rusks

I don't know why but I always have a craving for baby foods.
There is something special about Farley's Rusks that are comforting and I don't know what it is.
Farley's Rusks started in the 1880s, but the company were taken over by Heinz in 1994.
Since I had a craving for them, I decided to get them.
I was really excited that I ate them right a way when I got home.
It was comforting that the smell was still the same as well as the taste.
The taste is hard to describe but the biscuit is sweet with a strong taste of flour.
I thought the taste was rather sweet as an adult so I am keen on trying the reduced sugar version which is difficult to get hold of.
When you add milk to it, the sweetness is just right.
Anyway, after posting it on social media it was comforting to see other people having the same affections to Farley's Rusks.

[Review] M&S Marks and Spencers Toffee Meringues

I am not a fan of meringues but toffee meringues were a bit different so got them from M&S.
They were actually quite nice with a layer of dark chocolate in the middle with thick toffee flavoured cream.
The texture of the meringues were light and crumbly with a soft centre in the middle of the meringue.
Overall a lovely sweet treat with a cup of tea.

[Review] McVities Sticky Toffee flavour cake

Spotted the McVities Sticky Toffee flavour cake at Icelands which I don't often see at supermarkets so decided to get it.
The sticky toffee cake felt really light when I took it from the shelf and the wrapper didn't really stick to the cake so I somehow knew it was going to be dry before getting it.
I was right. The texture was pretty dry and crumbly but the taste was ok but definitely needs custard as suggested on the wrapper.
There is an artificial toffee aroma to the cake which is pretty strong.
I didn't think I would be buying it again but after microwaving it for a 10 seconds it was a complete different story but I find it odd that there were no suggestions to heat it up whatsoever or is it common sense as custard was suggested so why does it not suggest heating it up like their other brands.

[Review] Hot Mayo and Jolly Roger Coconut sauce by Cheeky Boy Sauces

As a food lover, I found out about Cheeky Boy Sauces from Instagram which captivated me to try their tantalizing saucy sauces.

Cheeky Boy Sauces are independent producers of a range of fresh tasting, delicious, all natural sauces and dips created by an adventurer and a food lover, and are beautifully made in Britain.
[quoted from their website.]

In 2017, I tried three stylish sauces: HRH sauce, L!MEY and Berlin49.
Full review on those sauces:
https://supersupergirl-food.blogspot.com/2017/08/cheeky-boy-sauces-great-british-sauces.html

Since then, their range of sauces have grown and they are continuously working on new sauces.
The bottle has changed to a better one and with so many sauces in the range, there is a sauce for everything.

This time I got my hands on the Hot Mayo and Jolly Roger Creamy Coconut as well as the upcoming sauce which is in development.

============
Jolly Roger Coconut:
I was just expecting a creamy coconut taste and boy I was wrong.
The first time I had it, I had generous dollop with roast chicken.
On first taste there is something sweet and spicy about this sauce with a strong coconut kick however the sweetness and heat is definitely not simply sugar and chili.
I think its coming from aniseed, cardamon and the heat could possibly be turmeric and aromatic ginger or onion seeds??
According to the ingredients, 14% is spices.

Anyway, I loved the sauce so much I put an extra dollop because it makes chicken taste like peanut free satay sauce to the next level.

The thick Jolly Roger coconut paste goes so well with rice especially mixed grain rice.
I liked it strong so I mixed the paste straight with cooked rice but I also tried adding it before it was cooked a different time which results in aromatic coconut rice which is perfect to accompany some Hainan Chicken or any Thai dish.

On the topic of Thai dishes, having it with roast potatoes tastes like Thai style yellow curry crispy potatoes because of the ginger and coconut and it was delicious.

=============
Hot Mayo:
Before I used the hot mayo, my first impressions of the sauce on its own was like light and sweet tomato sauce with a curry kick to it.
Hence the hot mayo paired nicely with chips, hot dog and Irish Potato farls.

Another day I made some Breakfast Burrito and the hot mayo sauce went nicely with it.

The hot mayo also worked well as a roast chicken marinade and comes out beautifully looking like chicken tikka.

Overall, I liked both sauces as it really enhances the taste of everything so it is useful for dishes that need perking up or that sophistication at home to get that restaurant quality meal.
=============
As well as their current sauces, Cheeky Boy Sauces are also on to a new sauce which I was really honoured get hold of.
It happened to be one of my favourite sauces which was why I was able recognise it immediately when I saw the picture they posted.

I fell in love with chimmichurri the first time I had it when I tried it at the restaurant, since then I order it at the restaurant if they serve it.

Chimmichurri is available in red or green. The green version is chopped parsley, minced garlic, olive oil, oregano and red wine vinegar.
There are so many application for this sauce like salmon and burgers which I did.
The Chimmichurri by Cheeky Boy Sauces has a lovely Mediterranean savoury and chili kick to it just as I imagined.
You can think of it as the modern bbq mint sauce for barbecued meats.

My favourite was definitely the grilled cheese because I love the pairing of cheese and chimmichurri.
You will also find Grilled chimmichurri avocado cheese toasts online so chimmichurri pizza would  probably taste good.

[Review] M&S Marks and Spencers West Country Luxury Fudge Yogurt

The Marks and Spencers West Country Luxury Yoghurt series are fabulous.

There are so many flavours like Strawberries and cream, lemon curd but the three that I liked so far  were Rhubarb Custard, Apple Crumble and Peach Melba.

This time I tried the Marks and Spencers West Country Luxury Fudge Yoghurt.
The yoghurt was a caramel colour and the taste was so comforting because it was very sweet and creamy with a yoghurt after taste.
Just like the other yoghurts in the West Country Luxury range, I was expecting some fudge pieces but there wasn't.
