Fish and "Crabs" anyone!!??

Not fish and chips but fish and tiny crabs.

Saw them in the fried section in the supermarket, so I bought a mixture of fried white bait and fried mini crabs.
They were so delicious and very fishy, I think my cat would have loved it!
The tiny crabs were the best, they taste the same as the soft shelled one, but stronger in flavour.

龜蛋 Let's eat 龜蛋!~

It's when someone is called a 龜蛋.

龜蛋 in Chinese is a turtle egg which led me to wonder if turtle eggs were edible!

After looking it up on the net, they are edible!!

Turtle eggs look like white Ping-Pong balls varying in shape and the shell is soft which is totally different to what I thought it would be!

The interesting thing is that albumin the white part of the egg does not coagulate (solidify) when cooked only the yolk part does.

It would be difficult knowing if the egg was cooked properly if it doesn’t harden!!

In costa rica, people usually eat the turtle eggs with lemon and salt.
Hopefully I will get a chance to try it one day!

Malaysian AYAM Baked Beans

After trying the BestBuy brand of baked beans, this time I tried the Malaysian version by the AYAM brand.
They also have baked beans with cheese too!
I got the Light version by accident not that I am health conscious.
The light version has less sugar and salt.
Taste: I didnt really like it because the sweetness was really fake, the light version uses modified sugars.
I think if I had bought the normal version it would have tasted better.
As for the beans they were not uniform in size, some were big and some were small.
The texture of the beans was too soft and the bean was so starchy.

Heinz canned Macaroni and Cheese

Had a Mac n Cheese craving, so got the Heinz one.
The canned version is runnier than the real thing.
The macaroni was soft but the sauce was really nice, you could taste strong cheddar with some bitter aftertaste.
The cheese sauce is similar to processed cheese but in runny form.

7-11's exclusive Thai fried rice with minced pork

After trying the Vietnamese fried vermicelli. I decided to try the fried rice as well.
I didn’t realise it was Thai style until I picked up the box.

It was rice done in thai style with minced meat.

Instead of micro waving it, I re-heated it by pan frying.
Same as noodles, it was packed with spices and herbs.
However I am not a person that likes lemon grass and tom yum, but if you like that, you’ll like this fried rice.
The texture of the rice was quite mushy.

Ingredients:
Cabbage, onion, egg, pork, fish sauce, tom yum paste, garlic, lemon leaf, lemon grass, lemon juice, red chilli, shallot, thai basil.

7-11's exclusive Fried Vietnamese rice vermicelli with chicken

However 7-11's exclusive one looked like it was going to be delicious from the poster.
It looked like a thai dish because of the lime and the redness of the noodles.

After I had microwaved it, I was surprised how nice it tasted. It was rich in fish sauce and seafood tastes.
The ingredients I could taste and were listed on the label were: Onion, cabbage, egg, carrot, chicken, red chilli, shrimp oil, fish sauce, shallot, thai basil, chicken powder.
The taste reminded me of the Filipino palabok.

Ingredients
Not only could they be tasted, you could physically see the julienne carrots, onions, chicken, shallots, egg and thai basil!

After it was microwaved

Before it was microwaved

I do not know much on Vietnamese food because the ones I have tried locally are too localized and did not taste nice.
Hence I have not really made an effort to try other places.

Taiwanese salted baby squids

Thought they were cute, so got them.
Luckily they were not spicy as stated on the packaging.
However they were extremely salty, so you need to soak/wash them before eating.
