[Review] Naked Rice Chinese Char Siu Long Grain Rice

Naked Noodles have been around for a few years.

Spotted the Naked Pot Rice series and there were so many interesting flavours: Katsu, Bibimbap, Sriracha, Malaysian curry, Szechuan Sweet & Spicy Rice and the Chinese Char Siu.
At Morrisons, they were promoting them for 75p which are usually 1.25 which prompted me to try the Naked Rice Chinese Char Siu Long Grain Rice.
I liked the way, there are three fill lines.
Recommended, Intense flavours for the not so adventurous.
To be honest, if you put too much water, it is going to be soupy but as I like my rice like risotto, I filled the water to the line just below the recommended to get intense flavours.
Before I added water, I rattled the cup and the grains of rice were light like puffs which means it doesn't need much water to soften.
It was really similar to this Korean Pot Rice that I tried earlier but forgotten the name.

When the rice was ready to eat, the smell and taste was just like char siu sauce so it definitely redeemed itself so I will try the other flavours.
I loved the way you could taste the finely chopped spring onions and the Chinese spices along with the slightly charred char siu aroma!
From the ingredients, it is definitely vegetarian so vegetarians can give it a try.

Ingredients:
Dried Rice, Maltodextrin, Potato Starch, Palm Oil, Flavourings (contain SOYA), Sugar, Soy Sauce Powder [Soy Sauce (Water, SOYA Beans, WHEAT, Salt), Maltodextrin, Salt], Dried Spring Onion, Tomato Powder, Dried Red Pepper, Colour (Plain Caramel), Garlic Powder, Ground Ginger, Chinese Five Spice (Salt, Star Anise, Sugar, Onion Powder, Garlic Powder, Black Pepper, Cinnamon, Clove, Fennel Seed, Ginger), BARLEY Malt Vinegar Extract Powder.

I also tried the Katsu curry and Szechuan Sweet & Spicy Rice.
The Katsu curry was really tasty while the Szechuan was sweet and spicy as advertised with hints of tomato and peppers.

[Review] Tilda Mushroom Basmati Rice

Tilda Rice has been around for quite a while.
They have taken steamed rice to the next level with the wide range of flavoured steamed rice.
Tried the Tilda Mushroom Basmati Rice and loved it, the rice was soft and fluffy with a lovely mushroom aroma.
I like the way it is not overly salty or seasoned so that it makes a good accompaniment with any dish.

[Review] Iceland Beef Filled Yorkshire Pudding 320g

Iceland offers a good range of instant meals for a pound so I thought it would be good to try them and see how they fare.
Tried the Iceland Beef Filled Yorkshire Pudding 320g which involves more steps than other meals that require just the oven or microwave.

First you have to put the Yorkshire in the oven while the filling is heated separately in the microwave or boiled in a bag.

Despite the extra steps, the beef filled Yorkshire pudding tasted so good that I would definitely get it again.
The Yorkshire was crisp like how it should be with a slightly soft base while the gravy was moreish accompanied by the peas and baby carrots.

As for the beef, it was thinly sliced beef like the stuff you get in school dinners so it was comforting.

[Review] Japanese 16 grain rice (Tajmatsu Sixteen Green Rice)

Discovered the Tajmatsu Sixteen Green Rice at the convenience store, luckily there is an English label with the ingredients.
There are three boxes in a pack.

The 16 grains rice has a glutinous rice texture which was delicious with curry or whatever you have with it but the 160g portion was a bit too small for me.

[Review] Young's Fisherman's Pie 320G

I have been eating Youngs Fisherman Pie for years and it is still consistently good.
It has pieces of Alaska Pollock Fillet in a Cheese and Chive Sauce Topped with Partially Reconstituted Mashed Potato and Cheddar Cheese.
The pie can be found at most supermarkets ranging from 1GBP-1.5GBP.

To prepare, you can either put it in the oven or microwave.
Obviously the oven would give better results but I microwaved it because it was quicker.
When it was ready, there was a delicious cheesy parsley aroma.
In terms of portion size, it would do as a light lunch.

The creamy sauce was simply delicious and not too overwhelming.

The chunks of fish had a good texture but the only complaint was the small piece of fish bone.
