[Review] Birds Eye Crispy Chicken

I love fried chicken and chicken nuggets so I was captivated by the Birds Eye crispy chicken.

It would seem a wise choice to get this over chicken nuggets because it is made with 100% chicken breast according to the box.

Inside the box, you get 2 crispy chickens as stated just like the picture.

After putting it in the oven, the end product was satisfactory and tasty but I found it a bit too crunchy as I left it in the oven for too long but the chicken inside was still moist and tender.

[Review] Young's Chip Shop Beer Batter Fillets

I think this is my first time reviewing Young's Chip Shop Beer Batter Fillets.
The other item I tried from Young's was the fish pie and that was good.
The batter fillets were a bit problematic to cook as they were dripping with oil and the batter was too soft and if you put in the oven for longer to get it crispy, the colour becomes dark brown.
Although the box says extra large fillets, there was not much fish in it as the fillets were quite thin so I guess the extra large fillet makes up for the lack of fish!

[Review] Iceland Chicken Stew and Dumplings £1 meal

The Iceland Chicken Stew and Dumplings for £1 was quite nice especially carrot, gravy as well as the dumplings, however the chicken was a bit dry for me.

[Review] Iceland Toad in the Hole £1 meal

I have been trying out Iceland £1 meals because they look legit but then frozen meals cost around £1-4 depending on portion size and ingredients.

Iceland's Toad in the Hole needed the oven so didn't try it until recently.

Basically, it is quite a big piece of Yorkshire so it is quite filling and gravy is definitely needed for that extra delicious factor.

When it was done, I was too lazy to make gravy even though gravy these days are instant by just adding water.
I had the Toad in the Hole with plum chutney which complemented it nicely and the pork sausages were as good as I expected.

[Review] Palacios Pizza Barbecue Creme

Tried Palacios Pizza Barbecue Creme which can be microwaved as well as reheated in the oven.
Unfortunately, I didn't find it impressive as the sauce was very sweet and the pizza base was rather chewy and tough.

[Review] Iceland Cocoa Chicken & Green Rice

Ever since I spotted the cocoa chicken at Iceland, it was on my list to try because cocoa works well in food.

Previously tried Mexican chicken mole which is chicken in savoury chocolate sauce.
The Cocoa Chicken & Green Rice from Iceland is cooked shredded chicken in a tomato and chipotle chili sauce with cocoa powder, served with cooked long grain rice with spinach and green chili puree.
After taking the sleeve off, you could see that some of the chicken was not in sauce which is why you have to stir it halfway through so that the chicken will be get mixed with the sauce.

Having had bad experience reheating rice by the microwave, the cocoa chicken was steamed which helps soften the rice and chicken.

The Cocoa Chicken & Green Rice was promising, the sauce was a tad too sweet but there were lots of purple onions and shredded chicken.
According to the ingredients, there was chili but I did not find it spicy compared to other curry meals or Mexican dishes.

As for the rice, I loved how green it was mixed with lots of spinach but again it wasn't spicy as the ingredients say there was chili paste in the rice.
There was a strong taste of parsley in the rice though.

Overall I would recommended trying this and and hope they bring back the Iceland Limited Edition Chocolate Chicken Curry 375g.

[Review] McCain Ready Baked Jacket Potatoes and McCain Smiles

(updated 15/2/2020)
As a foodie, I am always documenting what I eat and liked as a child so this time I got the McCain smiles which were fun as a child.
Decided to pair it with some chicken doughnut dippers from M&S for fun.
However the potato smiles were the most evil and alien looking potato faces in my life!!
It seems I got the same batch as Laura Basch as reported on The Sun dated 19th Dec 2020 because it is Feb now so it may well be the same batch.
The potato faces smelled good but I wasn't expecting them to be tasteless and dry and the quality doesn't seem to be as good as they used to.

Also tried McCain Ready Baked Jacket Potatoes in Nov 2019 where you microwave them for 5 minutes.

Inside the box:

I was a little disappointed with the potatoes because the texture was very starchy.
The potato collapsed like a sand castle when you put your fork in it.

[Review] Tescos 65p Frozen meals

There are so many frozen meals available and the cheapest ones around cost £1.
I was at Tescos when I spotted the Tescos 65p Frozen meals, there were three different ones to choose from:

Spaghetti bolognese:
Cheese and Tomato Pasta (Penne):
Chicken Curry with rice:

The spaghetti bolognese and curry were my picks so decided to get the chicken curry.

The chicken curry with rice is chicken breast pieces smothered in a creamy coconut curry sauce served up with rice.

There was a lovely smelly of curry when it was heated.
As stated, there were a decent amount of chunky chicken breast found in the curry and lots of curry sauce to go with the rice and chicken.
The colour of the curry and presentation was just like the product shot.

Overall the curry and chicken was quite good but the rice let it down because it was quite hard so the spaghetti bolognese would probably be a better pick.

For 65p, it would definitely a good deal.
Other frozen meals that cost 65p by Hearty Food Co.

[Review] Iceland's Meal for One Macaroni Cheese

Since Iceland have a good range of frozen meals for a pound, decided to try them and see how they fared.
Previously tried the Iceland Beef Filled Yorkshire Pudding 320g which was fantastic.

Tried  Iceland's Meal for One Macaroni Cheese which came in a basic packaging.
Basically it is cooked macaroni in a cheese sauce topped with cheddar cheese.

The red cheddar can be seen beneath the film.

After it was heated in the microwave, the smell of cheese was a bit too sickly but when it cooled down it was all good.
The macaroni was in this thick cheesy sauce which was not too overwhelming and the saltiness was just right.
So overall, not bad and much better than the canned versions of macaroni which can be too soft and bland.
