Krispy Kreme Coronation doughnuts: Berry Bakewell and Kings Trifle

Krispy Kreme always have doughnuts for every occasion and this time it was for the Coronation which definitely appealed to me without hesitation to buy.
The Coronation doughnuts were: Berry Bakewell, with raspberry filling and almond Kreme, iced and adorned with a glace cherry. Lemon short bread, dipped in smooth lemon icing, with a swirl of vanilla frosting and shortcake biscuit pieces. Last but not least, the Kings Trifle with a strawberry and custard filling.
Visually, the Kings Trifle was the best with a bright purple icing topped with a crown so I tried this one first.
As always, the icing on top is rather sweet and some doughnuts can be quite oily so it depends which branch you get it from.
Apart from that, the custard and strawberry filling was quite nice.
The Berry Bakewell again was the same, the icing overpowers everything so I devoured it in a messy way by eating the bottom and the filling to taste the it properly.
The filling was interesting, as they used almond butter along with some raspberry jam so it doesn't taste like the typical almond frangipane style bakewell but it was nice.

Cadbury's Pandan coconut chocolate

I love Pandan, so I had to get my hands on the Cadbury's pandan coconut chocolate which is available in Asia!
Finally got some hold of them and they were divine as expected.
When you open the wrapper, you get this strong aromatic pandan aroma but to my surprise, there was another gold foil wrap to unwrap.
Visually, there are a lot of coconut pieces in the chocolate.
Tasting the chocolate, it was like your usual Cadbury chocolate laced with lots of crisp and soft coconut bits.
The pandan flavour works really well interestingly but it could be stronger however there is a slight bitter aftertaste like fresh pandan.
Overall, it was really enjoyable and I am quite gutted I didn't find out about the Cadbury Durian flavour which I will have to try at some point.

Mama salted egg noodles

Salted egg noodles are delish and I think the first salted egg noodles came from Indomie.
Thai brand Mama also has salted egg noodles so I gave them a try.
Looking at the packet, it is soupless, the noodles are vibrant orange with some red specks in it.
Fearing it might be spicy, I tried the flavour sachet which confirmed it was extremely spicy.
The noodles were much thicker than the usual ones and they look the same as the Korean ones which are fatter and whiter.
I didn't quite follow the instructions because of the spiciness so it probably didn't taste the same.
Overall, the noodles were not that bad but it would have been nice if there is a non spicy version available!

Michelin Star Instant Ramen Nakiryu x Nissin tantanmen

The Nakiryu x Nissin tantanmen is probably the most expensive cup noodle because it is a collaboration of Michelin starred Nakiryu and Nissin featuring the award winning tantanmen.
I managed to get my hands on one to try.
Obviously, I can't read Japanese but I figured you put the soup first and then add the other sauce sachets.
Peeling the lid back, you are greeted with this super fine noodles which are to my liking because I love fine noodles.
When the noodles were almost ready, it was time to add the sesame paste and tantan paste.
I probably didn't experience the noodles how they were designed because I am not fond of sesame so didn't add much.
Overall, I really enjoyed these noodles because it was definitely Japanese tantanmen style which is so different to the Chinese one as you get this lovely kick from the black vinegar and apple vinegar.
The broth was much better quality in taste than the usual bog standard powder ones.
I would imagine adding the sesame paste would make it richer.
A bit pricey, but these fine noodles really work well and pay off.
They are a bit like fine egg noodles but better.

Tesco finest cherry bakewell cookies

After having some really nice cherry bakewell cookies from Sainsburys, I decided to try the Tesco version of the cherry bakewell cookie.
Having tried Tesco finest cookies before, I didn't have any expectations.
Just like their other cookies, the texture was like half English and American in the sense that it was crunchy, hard and soft.
It was way too sweet and basically a sugary piece of dough where you get the crunch of sugar crystals.
The cherries were there but not as nice as Sainsburys and the almond flakes looked more like toasted coconut chips!
Although, you could taste cherry bakewell, you could really taste the dough as well swishing round your tongue and the cherry flavour was not that aromatic and did not linger.
Definitely would not be buying again, unless they come up with a flavour to die for but the texture will just be the same like a half English and American cookie.

Brazilian Nissin Lamen noodles: Ribs, vegetable and chicken

I love trying instant noodles hence I had to try the Brazilian version of Nissin which is branded as Nissin Lamen.
On the internet, there are so many flavours but I was only able to get the Vegetable and chicken at the shop.
There is a lime chicken which I want to get my hands on.
Tried both the ribs, vegetable and chicken.
If you look at the noodles when they come out of the packet, the colour is a lot darker than the Japanese and Asian ones.
It also needed more time to cook and reminded me of Batchelors super noodles which are a bit wheaty in texture.
Overall, I didn't find them memorable because they just tasted like the usual instant noodles except for the beef ribs but I am hoping to try the lime chicken which I believe is going to taste quite different.

Yo! crispy prawn bao kit

Spotted these Yo!Sushi crispy prawn bao kits at Iceland so I thought I'd give them a try because I do like prawns.
When I opened the box there were two bags, one bag for the prawn bites and one bag for the baos.
I was distracted looking at the prawn bites because there were two colours meaning it came from two frying batches to notice that there were only 5 in there.
It looks that they cocked up during the packing process of the prawn bites, also the size of them were not uniform so I reckon the machine went by weight and not quantity.
Thinking back, I should have weighed the whole box to see if it came to 380g.
The prawn bites came out quite oily so I had to blot the oil away and the baos were microwaved accordingly.
All was well I thought apart from one missing prawn bite.
The prawn bites was seriously good as it had a lovely crispy coating while squidy inside but the bao let it down because it was too chewy and tough so I will reduce the microwave time to about 50 seconds because 90 seconds is quite long.
To summarize, if the baos were not chewy, they should taste quite good.
It came with sweet chilli sauce which I did not use because I do not like sweet chilli hence replaced with a lemon and herb spicy sauce.
