Tesco finest Rhubarb and Custard Crumble

At first when I saw this Rhubarb and Custard crumble, I thought it was just the usual Rhubarb crumble but then when I looked closer it was actually rhubarb and custard.
It was a bit expensive for a fiver but in the end I decided to give it a go.
Labelled as smooth Madagascan vanilla custard with rhubarb & stem ginger compote topped with oat crumble.
I was a bit apprehensive about the ginger but rhubarb and ginger is a thing because Waitrose also do a rhubarb ginger crumble while ASDA has a rhubarb ginger drink.
It turns out the custard is not uniformly distributed but on the sides of the crumble.
As for the taste, I felt that the stem ginger compote stole the show sadly and I couldn't quite taste the rhubarb.
The sweet custard could only be tasted when you ate the edges of the crumble.
Overall, it wasn't bad in taste but a little disappointing as you could taste the the rhubarb and custard which is meant to be the star of the show.

Tesco smoked Beechwood bacon and ketchup sandwich

I have always wanted to try this smoked bacon and ketchup sandwich and it did not disappoint.
The sweet ketchup was actually nice but not in an offending cloying way while the bacon was not too overly salty or fatty.
Best warmed in the microwave for 12 seconds to wake up the bread and bacon.

Tesco finest Egg Custard Tarts (Summer Edition)

When I saw these Tesco finest Egg Custard Tarts (Summer Edition), they made me look twice because I was wondering how they different to the usual egg custard tarts apart from being different in shape and costing more.
One day, I felt like something sweet so decided to try them.
As there were two of them, I had one chilled and one warmed in the microwave for 12 seconds.
The chilled one was much nicer, the tart base is the usual short crust but because of the tart shape you get an even ratio of filling to pastry compared to the regular custard tarts.
The custard filling was much richer and intense in taste so it was actually quite nice along with the nutmeg.
Having it warmed was not to my liking, the filling was much sweeter and the consistency was like smooth creme that was really thick and silky.
The tart base was much softer as well.

Tesco finest cherry bakewell cookies

After having some really nice cherry bakewell cookies from Sainsburys, I decided to try the Tesco version of the cherry bakewell cookie.
Having tried Tesco finest cookies before, I didn't have any expectations.
Just like their other cookies, the texture was like half English and American in the sense that it was crunchy, hard and soft.
It was way too sweet and basically a sugary piece of dough where you get the crunch of sugar crystals.
The cherries were there but not as nice as Sainsburys and the almond flakes looked more like toasted coconut chips!
Although, you could taste cherry bakewell, you could really taste the dough as well swishing round your tongue and the cherry flavour was not that aromatic and did not linger.
Definitely would not be buying again, unless they come up with a flavour to die for but the texture will just be the same like a half English and American cookie.

Tesco Mature cheddar with oak smoked tomato and herbs

Spotted the Tesco Mature cheddar with oak smoked tomato and herbs so just had to get it.
It was seriously delicious cheddar with tomato and cheese.
Basically think of pizza and it also reminded me of those flavoured tomato cream cheeses!!
It tasted really good on its own, it was really moreish because of the sundried tomatoes and then you get the oregano.
Also tried it melted on toast but it tastes better just like that.
The texture of this cheese is rather creamy and soft until plain cheddar.

Tesco Rough oat cakes

I love oat cakes so got these to pair with some haggis cheese bake which were a heavenly pairing.
These oat cakes were how they were suppose to be but the only complaint was that they snapped easily.

Tesco Finest apple and caramel Danish tart

When I spotted this huge Danish I just had to try it.
The regular price is £4.00 but it is on offer for £3.50 with a Tescos Clubcard.
I had a good feeling it was going to taste good because of the caramel and the big chunks of Jonagold apples.
Overall it was not too sweet and tasted great with some extra thick cream.
[The box itself was really sticky at the store but the staff were really nice and gave me some kitchen towels].

Tesco Fire Pit 4 Hot & Spicy Pork Loin Steaks

Tescos have launched a great variety of marinated meats for the summer and the spicy pork loin was one of them along with Chinese style, Indian style etc.
The spicy pork loins were tender and moist when it was cooked which made a great meal with rice and vegetables.

Tesco Wafer Thin Honey roast Ham slices

Ham is just ham, the tesco's wafer thin honey ham was not bad.
The flavour from curing was just right and it did not have those elastic bits in it.

Tesco blueberry muffins

I am not really a fan of muffins but since they were reduced I decided to give them a go.
Overall not bad because they were soft and fluffy as claimed but I just prefer the texture of cakes.

Tesco Finest Sicilian Lemon Curd Muffins

To be honest, I am not a fan of lemon in cakes and dessert but I had this craving for something sweet so tried Tesco Finest Sicilian Lemon Curd Muffins.

They were Lemon flavoured muffin filled with lemon curd, topped with a crumble and icing sugar and a white chocolate cream drizzle.

To my surprise, I really liked it because the texture was more like cake and it was not overwhelmed by butter and the lemon curd was to my liking because it was not too artificial with the right sweetness.

The white chocolate cream drizzle was delicious as it gave it that extra sweet kick to it.

Tesco Salmon, Hoisin & Cucumber Mini Maki review

I have always wanted to try Tescos sushi after reviewing LIDL's hoisin duck.
Ended up getting the Salmon, Hoisin & Cucumber Mini Maki which does not contain any duck but it meant I could try their hoisin sushi.
In the box, you get 6 Hoisin, black sesame seed and chive mini nigiri, 6 smoked salmon hosomaki, 3 cucumber hosomaki and a bottle of soy sauce.

According to their website, their sushi rice is cooked in traditional Japanese pots and seasoned.

Overall, it was ok but I found the salmon a bit fishy while the hoisin nigiri a bit sweet because of the plum and the combination of seasoning used.
The thing that really impressed was the cute sushi soy sauce bottle.

Tesco Chicken and Mushroom Slice review

Chicken and mushrooms slices are popular treats that you just put in the oven.
At Tescos, you can get the fresh ones from the chilled section or frozen ones called Bakes.
Previously tried the frozen ones so now I am trying the chilled ones.
To be honest, they really good because the pastry was light and flakey but one might complain there was not much filling but I was ok with that because the mushrooms were earthy and strong.
