[Review] Port Royal Jamaican Lamb Patty

I love Jamaican patties and there are many brands about for the ready to eat ones as well as fresh patties available at Jamaican shops.
As I have not come across the Port Royal brand before I decided to try it.
After microwaving it for 50 seconds it was hot and the pastry was soft which did not bother me.
Ideally, if you put it in the oven then you would get a lovely flaky texture.
For those who are not keen on lamb, it can smell a bit gamey but the spices are really appetizing so it makes the minced lamb tasty.
I definitely recommend these Port Royal patties as they have other flavours like spicy beef, jerk chicken and salt fish.
Ideally I want to try the salt fish but haven't seen it any where.

[Review] Muller light smooth Toffee

The Muller light smooth Toffee was another flavour that I haven't tried hence got it.
The taste is smooth with sweet toffee which is easy going hence it should be a flavour that everyone would like.
I was hoping for some toffee pieces but it makes sense there are not any because it does say smooth toffee!

[Review] Lidl's Portuguese Tart

After trying this amazing Portuguese Tart from Morrisons, I wasn't sure if I was lucky so I tried Lidl's Portuguese tart which is much raved about.
The pastry of Lidl's Portugese tart wasn't that good or I happened to get the odd one that wasn't at its best.
As for the filling, Lidl fare better because it wasn't so sweet.

As so many people were raving about how good the Lidl's Portuguese Tart should be, I went again and got a better one.
Out of the batch, only one looked good and this one tasted better than the one above mainly because the pastry was more defined.

[Review] Morrisons 2 Portuguese Custard Tarts

Portuguese custard tarts or any food is meant to taste delicious if executed properly but I was put off by Portuguese tarts in Hong Kong because they were simply not fit for consumption.
Visually they were oily and burnt and when you eat them your fingers are covered in oil while the taste is burnt and eggy.

Although I was put off Portuguse tarts, food in UK is generally good from anywhere.

The first ever Portuguse tart I tried in UK was from Morrisons.
Visually I was impressed because it had all these distinct layers and it was not burnt so if you reheat the tart, it allows room for it to become golden.

After reheating it carefully, the Portuguese custard tart was amazing, the pastry was crisp and flakey and the custard filling was sweet but not eggy like the Hong Kong ones.
Apart from being too sweet, I would give it 99/1000.

I wasn't sure if I was lucky so I tried Lidl's Portuguese tart which is much raved about but the pastry wasn't as good or I got the odd one that wasn't at its best.

[Review] Rustlers BBQ Rib Burger

Out of the basic range at Rustlers, I was drawn most to the BBQ Rib burger because I like BBQ sauce and not often do you get rib burgers in other ready to eat burger brands.
I don't know if anyone else remembers but McDonalds had the McRib burger a while back which was really good.
Basically, it is similar to the sausage patty but in rib shaped patty smothered in BBQ sauce.

Rustlers has two sizes, the bbq rib burger and the bbq rib.
Essentially they are the same but the bun and patty is longer for the bbq rib and so are various products in the Rustlers range.
It makes me wonder if the sauce sachets are bigger in the BBQ Rib version because the patty is longer.

As I just wanted to try the rib patty I got the BBQ rib burger because it is just the same as the rib burger but smaller.
To my surprise, the taste was just like McDonalds McRib, the rib patty was juicy and the smokey BBQ sauce complimented it nicely.

[Review] Rustlers Flame Grilled Cheese Burger

I am not really keen on beef but decided to try the Rustlers Flame Grilled Cheese Burger so that I have tried a bit of everything in their basic range.
The beef patty was impressive after it came out the microwave as it looked like it was flame grilled.
Everything from sauce and bun were good but the only let down was the beef patty as it had these chewy gristle sinew bits that I don't like which is the main reason I am not keen on eating burgers, minced beef or sausages.

[Review] Rustlers Classic Hot Dog

Since I have reviewed a few of the Rustlers products, I decided to try their hot dog as well which is probably the last in the basic range to try.
Rustlers do have some special burgers but I am not near any superstore to get it.

The instructions for the hot dog was 1 minute 40 seconds in a 800W microwave.
To be honest, 1 minute 40 seconds for the hot dog is probably right but it would be too long for the bun which would go chewy.
Fearing a chewy bun, I microwaved it for 1 minute 20 seconds and the bun was still chewy as expected so microwaving them separately would probably be better but I doubt I would buy it again.
The taste of the dog itself with ketchup and mustard included was not bad.

Ironically, I was Co-Op and the Rustlers double hotdog pack was reduced to 64p so ended up getting them.
This time I microwaved the hot dog for about 40 seconds and it turned out good.
