[Review] Morrisons Rhubarb & Custard Trifles

A typical trifle is layers of jelly, sponge, custard topped with cream.
At Morrisons they had the Rhubarb Trifle which definitely caught my attention because I love Rhubarb so I didn't hesitate to buy it.
The only thing that I was weary about was the custard because Morrisons NEW strawberry jelly with custard put me off as the custard in that was just weird.
Thankfully the rhubarb trifle was amazing, the custard in this was how you would expect it to be as it was thick and creamy and the rhubarb layer was fantastic with some tartness to it.
Rhubarb in desserts have been sweetened too much these days so I was ecstatic that I found some tartness in this rhubarb trifle.
Overall I would really recommend this because it is something different to your usual strawberry or mixed fruit trifle.
Hopefully they will peach or apricot trifle one day.

[Review] Morrisons Strawberry Jelly with Custard

I love trifles mainly because of the custard and jelly so when I saw Morrisons Custard Jelly I just had to get it.
I was really looking forward to this dessert because it was just plain custard and jelly.
Unfortunately, the taste wasn't what I expected, the custard was the worst I have ever had and the jelly was just lacking character.
The strange thing was, I also got the rhubarb trifle and the custard in that was totally different and nicer.
Comparing the two, the colour of the custard in the two desserts are different.

[Review] M&S Marks and Spencers Mushroom Rice

I love Indian food so much that just having rice is good fix.
This time I tried Marks and Spencers Mushroom Rice which is nice and fluffy with lots of mushroom and pieces of dried porcini mushrooms.
The spices in the rice are mild so the rice goes well with anything.

[Review] M&S Marks and Spencers Made without wheat Gluten Free Chicken & Mushroom Crispbakes

I was hesitant in getting Marks and Spencers Chicken & Mushroom Crispbakes because sometimes chicken can be tasteless.
It came out to be a surprise how tasty it was because the mushrooms were quite strong which worked along with the mashed potato to bring out the chicken.
I liked the way the chicken was finely chopped so that it blended in nicely and didn't stand out as too coarse with the other ingredients.
After looking at the ingredients I was surprised to see that chicken thigh was used which is probably why the chicken is not bland compared to chicken breast.

[Review] Tesco Gooseberry Fool

Fruit fools are a favourite dessert of mine which are basically fruit mixed with whipped cream which has a mousse texture.
The popular flavours are gooseberry and rhubarb.

The Tesco Gooseberry Fool was on the sweet side but generous on fruit because every spoon there was so much finely chopped gooseberry bits in it.
The texture was light but more like thick mousse because I felt that they put a bit too much gelatin to set it compared to Marks and Spencers gooseberry fool which was much lighter.

Overall, Tesco Gooseberry fool wasn't bad and I liked the generous pieces of gooseberry in every spoon.

[Review] M&S Marks and Spencers Hand Finished Chorizo, Pepper & Tomato Quiche

The basic quiche range at Marks and Spencers is pretty good and in addition to that there is a hand finished series.
This time I got the Hand Finished Chorizo, Pepper & Tomato Quiche to see how it fared.
As a non fan of chorizo I was pretty impressed because this quiche has strong flavours coming from the sundried tomatoes and peppers while the chorizo gave a nice and smoky kick.
Compared to the regular quiches in their range, I would say the ratio of egg custard and ingredients are different.
With the basic range, there is more egg custard but for the hand finished range there is less egg custard so the ingredients are more prominent.
I liked the way the chorizo was diced and not sliced like the ones you find on pizza.
Overall, I was impressed.

[Review] M&S Marks and Spencers Plant Kitchen 4 No Chic'n Gyozas

So far there are two types of Gyozas at Marks and Spencers, the plant kitchen no chic'n and the prawn and mangetout.
Tried the prawn first which was quite nice, the plant kitchen one comes with the same sauce.
After microwaving the the gyozas for about a minute as instructed, the gyozas were nice and soft.
I tried the gyozas without the sauce and it was quite salty that the sauce wasn't needed.
Overall, if it wasn't too salty it would have been good.
