Happy Cow dairy-free ice cream

As you know Hong Kong is slow and even if they wanted to try new ideas from other places they are quite cautious about approaching them.

Luckily we have Happy Cow a brand of dairy-free, gluten-free, soy-free, low glycemic vegan and most importantly Kosher icecream.

A genius brand, ice-cream made with coconut milk!

I was really lucky and got to visit Happy Cow and watch them make ice-cream and try their other flavours.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Lets start with ice cream making:
The main ingredients were put into a blender including guar gum a natrual thickener, coconut sugar (brown) which gives their ice-creams a brown colour.
Then water is added and the mixture is blended and put in the machine.
After it is churned for a while, Coconut milk is added

While the mixture is churning, the icecream containers and lids are being prepared.

When the icecream mixture gets thick the icecream is almost ready.

A sample is tasted before it is put into the cartons and frozen to ensure quality of smoothness and taste.

The final steps!! Ice Cream in containers and into the freezer!!
Final Products!!

At the moment the main flavours they offer are:
Chocolate
Lime
Cherry, almond, fudge
Pistachio
Coffee
Pina Colada

There are many other tempting flavours in development to be launched later!

All these flavours have an extremely coconutty taste attributed to coconut milk and coconut sugar, and the texture is thick and creamier than ordinary icecreams.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Pistachio:

There was no colouring used in the Pistachio which is why it is not green and the brown colour is because of the coconut sugar.
This flavour was rich and creamy with delicious pieces of pistachio in it.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chocolate:

There was a rich chocolate and coconut taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Lime:

Again its colour is slightly caramel because of the coconut sugar.
This was my favourite because the taste of lime was strong and refreshing.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Cherry, almond fudge:

This is bound to be everyones favourite with chunks of American cherries, fudge and almond flavour.

Acecook Coco Ichibanya Curry House Instant Noodle

I was surprised to see some bowl noodles with Coco Ichibanya Curry House on it.

Coco Ichibanya Curry House serves nice curries with branches all over the world.

It was a square bowl with drainage holes on one side.

There were three bags of condiments: curry powder, pieces of meat and oil.

After pouring the water out, I added the condiments and mixed it together.

The taste was really nice with a strong curry flavour but it had a different taste to the curries at Coco Ichibanya Curry House.

If I were to have it again, I would drain the water sooner so that they are not so soft.

Francis Pineapple cakes

Got these lovely Taiwanese pineapple cakes from a friend.

The pastel blue packaging and design was really nice, each pineapple cake was individually wrapped and colour coded.

There were five flavours:
-Coconut
-Lemon
-Walnut and coffee
-Macadamia and sunflower seeds
-Flax seeds
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Coconut:

I really liked this because it had dried coconut flakes on the pastry which gave it a great mouthfeel and coconutty taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Lemon:

Lemon was also my favourite because it was refreshing and an unusual flavour.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Walnut and coffee:

The flavour of this was quite strong with a hint of coffee that was not bitter balanced by the walnuts.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Macadamia and sunflower seeds:
This was had a lot of texture in it because there were sunflower seeds and macadamia pieces in it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Flaxseeds:
This one was similar to the above, but flaxseeds are smaller than sunflower seeds.

Egaonowakka 徳用チョコ

From the packaging you can't quite guess what these are because its all in Japanese.

On the English it is labelled as: Choco snack.

Basically it is a hollow corn stick coated in delicious chocolate.

The corn snack reminds me of maize crisps such as monster munch but a sweet version.

The taste of these snacks were really nice and it tastes really familiar to something which I can't remember.

Fauchon paris asahi eclair sweet milk tea

Got this because it was Eclair flavoured.
A very unusual flavour! But in Japan they have all sorts of unusual flavours.
It was really sweet and had a lovely sweet scent, it basically tastes like silky western milk tea without the bitterness and it was like candy and drinks flavoured by famous syrups such as Monins.

The colour of the tea was the usual dark beige.

Nongshim Pizza snacks & Spicy chicken bowl noodle

Got these because they reminded me of these crisps in the UK.
They are a Korean and surprisingly they are manufactured by Nongshim which are famous for pot noodles!!
The taste was slightly disappointing because there was no pizza taste, it just tasted of herbs and fake carotene/paprika.

As well as snacks, I also tried their noodles.
Unfortunately, I don't have pictures of the one in red black cups but I do have pictures of the spicy chicken.
The spicy chicken was really flavourful but a bit too spicy and salty.

Lotte Pepero cocao 45%

Addictive chocolate covered pret sticks because the chocolate was strong and not too sweet just like dark chocolate.
