Uni president Dong Gwai flavoured instant noodles 當歸藥膳風味細麵

Previously tried the two other instant noodles in this series.
-ginseng with wolfberries 人蔘枸杞藥膳風味細麵

This time I was looking forward to the DongGwai series, however I could not find the DongGwai with duck so I only got the plain DongGwai noodles.
Again it was as nice as the previous noodles but the ginseng one had a stronger taste.
For this flavour the DongGwai taste was faint.
There was sesame oil as well but I did not use it because it tastes really strong.

Tai Bu Tei Yao Shan Noodle- Ginseng and Chinese Wolfberry Flavour

Again these thin noodles are by Uni-president, this time tried the Ginseng flavour which is quite strong however there is a sachet of sesame oil as well which I only recommend putting half the contents because it will overpower the taste of the soupbase.

Uni President Jah Jang noodles 統一麵 巷口乾麵炸醬風味

Again there is no English name but it is labelled UNIF Xiang Kou Dried Noodle- Fried Bean Sauce Flavour on a sticky label stuck on the packet by the importer.

In general the noodles by Uni President are good however for this particular flavour there is a brand that is really nice, sold in the Chinese supermarkets in UK.

So how does this one compare?
The noodles were thicker than that brand and it takes longer to go soft.
The texture of the noodles were extremely al dente and perhaps too chewy for me, so in conclusion I prefer the other brand because of the noodles, but the sauce tastes the same.

Uni president sesame oil herbal instant noodles

I have always liked instant noodles by Uni President because their flavours are different.

The one I tried was a herbal one which was sesame oil herbal instant noodles, it didnt have an English name on the packaging except for 大補帖 麻油藥膳風味細麵 https://www.pecos.com.tw/goods-341.html, similar to the Buk Kut Teh instant noodles I tried recently from Malaysia which contained Dong Gwai.
On the labelling it was called Tai bu tei yao shan noodle sesame flavour but it could have been named by the importer.

Apart from sesame and herbs, they actually had Dong Gwai flavoured instant noodles 當歸藥膳風味細麵, ginseng with wolfberries 人蔘枸杞藥膳風味細麵, and Dong Gwai with duck instant noodles, 當歸鴨風味細麵.

When I opened the packet, the noodles were the thin type which I like because they cook quicker and absorb more flavour.

There was a lot of sesame oil in the sachet unlike other brands.
The soup sachet had pieces of dried wolfberries and Dong Gwai.

When I cooked the noodles the smell of Dong Gwai was nice and strong.

Although there is lots of sesame oil I only put half in there because the sesame oil over powers the rest of the herbal flavouring.
Apart from Dong Gwai I could also taste a hint of ginger in it.

Fermented Black garlic experience - Black gold

After reading the article below, I have always wanted to try Black garlic. In the UK supermarket it sells for £1.50 as an item to enhance food flavouring, however in Singapore it is marketed as a health product, in Hong Kong it is sold at $55 (£4.63)  in the pharmacy.

I tried it purely because I like trying things and not for the health benefits.

The taste was really nice, it was soft, mushy and sweet, there was a twinge of sourness and there was an interesting feeling because of the pH levels. It also reminds me of roasted garlic.

The garlic odour and smell was still present in the fermented garlic.

The fermented process is similar to the thousand year egg which also has high pH levels. The pH on the garlic is stated to be 10.3. This chemical process breaks down some of the complex, flavorless proteins and fats, which produces a variety of smaller flavorful compounds.

Welcome to a whole new world of flavor.

Introducing a simple food with a wonderfully complex flavor. Black garlic is sweet meets savory, a perfect mix of molasses-like richness and tangy garlic undertones. It has a tender, almost jelly-like texture with a melt-in-your-mouth consistency similar to a soft dried fruit. Hard to believe, but true. It’s as delicious as it is unique. Nissin: Black garlic oil tonkotsu flavour cup noodles

Finally tried the cup noodle version of the black garlic oil tonkotsu.

The soup is the same as the packet ones, however in the cup version there are dehydrated egg bits and pork.

The noodles do not taste as good as the packet ones because the texture is different, however the black garlic oil was fun putting it in the cup noodles and seeing the droplets disperse.

Nissin Black garlic oil tonkotsu instant noodles

Japanese noodles in pork broth are getting popular these days that Nissin noodles have produced their own too.
It keeps getting sold out, but I finally managed to get a pack.
The black garlic oil is not as black as the product picture.
Overall it tasted quite nice, not as oily and sticky as the ones at the noodles bars.
