Uncle Ben ready to eat Rices

I have tried so many ready to eat rices but I still haven't tried Uncle Ben's yet which I will try soon.
The latest range I discovered was the takeaway style chicken fried rice, coconut rice and chilli rice.

Sainsburys Strawberries and Cream hot cross buns

A while ago when I spotted these Strawberries and Cream hot cross buns by Sainsburys I was tempted but the thought of strawberries made me think of artificial smelling strawberries so I held back.
In the end, curiousity came to play and I ended up getting them.
Visually, you could see lots of white chocolate and some red berries which on closer inspection were cranberries and not strawberries.
When I opened the bag, there was a lovely fruity strawberry smell which was reassuring.
I decided to toast one half and microwave the other half.
The texture of both were good but I preferred the microwaved half as the white chocolate melted and the pieces of cranberries were moist.
The toasted half was not bad but it needed butter.
Overall, I am glad I tried it.
Rating: 4/5

Iceland Breaded Ham

The ham trimmings I wanted was sold out so I resorted to a trip to Iceland and found some breaded ham that was reduced.

It was only for a photo with pease pudding which was ideal.

Overall, the ham tasted how it should but the breaded part wasn't really outstanding.

Foresight Pease Pudding

As a Southerner in UK, I have not seen much Pease Pudding also known as pease porridge / pease pottage in my area so when I saw a can of pease pudding at the supermarket I decided to try it.

Pease pudding is vegan and made of split yellow peas which is eaten up North with ham which makes sense because it tastes a bit like mushy peas.

You can also eat pease pudding with salt and vinegar like they do in Lancashire with black peas for Bonfire night.

I felt that the pease pudding is best microwaved to soften it up.

Tried the pease pudding on pitta, with ham and with salt and vinegar and my favourite was probably with ham or salt and vinegar, also tried it with mustard which gave it a punch that you will remember.

Pease Pudding Rhyme:

Pease pudding hot, Pease pudding cold,
Pease pudding in the pot - nine days old.
Some like it hot, some like it cold,
Some like it in the pot - nine days old.

Cadburys Layer of Joy Chocolate Trifle

I was about to try cadburys layers of joy chocolate trifles but when I took them out I realized that 80% of the lid was not sealed with glue. So took out the second pot and it was the same.

As much as I would have wanted to try them I didn't because bacteria may have entered after they were manufactured, during transport, the time at the shop and during the last journey home!!

Fray Bentos Vegetable Balti Pie review

FRAY BENTOS have been around for ages, they are famous for tinned pies.
The reason I never got one before was the hassle in the sense getting a can opener to remove the lid and then baking it.
After I saw some reviews of the huge pie top, it totally changed my mind but paying 1.50 was a bit much for a canned pie when you can get a few fresh or frozen for that price.
Finally saw it at Poundland for 75p so without hesitation I got it.
Starting with a vegetable pie is probably better than meat because canned meat tends to have a mushy texture. Ideally cheese and onion would be my pick but haven't seen it around.
The only let down was the puff pastry which didn't rise up much like the videos.
I left it in the oven for more than the suggested 25 minute hoping the pastry would rise.
Overall not bad but there was a sour aftertaste probably because it was canned.

M&S Marks Spencer Steak Casserole (mini meal) review

I love steak casserole and the M&S mini steak casserole comes with a suet dumpling which is a must get because I love suet dumplings.

Ideally, you should reheat this in an oven so that the suet dumpling will not be so doughy but microwaving it was fine if you don't mind them soft.

You can think of them like savoury American biscuits or savoury English scones.

Overall, I really liked this mini casserole with chunk of beef but the problem is that the portion tends to be tiny when it is delicious.

The suet dumpling together with the beefy gravy was simply delicious.
