Morrisons Sweet cured herrings review

Lately,  I had this strange urge to try rollmops so ended up trying the Morrisons Sweet cured herrings first as it was hard deciding which supermarket brand of rollmops.

The reason I chose Morrisons sweet cured herrings was that it was quite different to the other supermarkets because it had pink peppercorns which the others didn't have.

As expected, I wasn't quite fond of it because of the sweetness but then I expected that because they are sweet cured.

Overall,  I think I am going to like rollmops more than sweet cured herrings but if you seriously wanted to try sweet cured, I definitely recommend Morrisons.

[Fruit Review] Quince

According to internet, Quince is a fruit that looks like an apple and there are a few varieties that vary in shade.
Quince has to be cooked to unlock the flavous as they are very astringement and sour if you eat them raw so that was just what I did.
To my disappointment, the quince was not unpleasant as expected, it just tasted like a bitter apple which was also mentioned on someone elses youtube video.

Anyway, I ended up cooking it to see how it would taste. The quince was extremely hard to cut so I wasted quite a bit.
I didn't simmer it for an hour because I was not planning to make Quince jelly anyway so I had it cooked to the point the quince was soft yet it still had a bite.
The taste of the cooked quince was so much nicer and fragrant so definitely worth trying if you see it at the shops.

McVities Unicorn gems and Iced gems review

I got addicted to choc gems after trying McVites choc gems so I decided to try the unicorn gems as well as the original iced gems, however I didn't see any iced gems on my shopping trip so ended up trying the unicorn gems.
The Mcvities Unicorn gems were strangely comforting and they have that satisfying crunch followed by sweetness.
It tastes like a Rich Tea biscuit base topped with hard icing.
I still want to review the regular McVities Iced Gems but the flavours are the same according to the internet, its just the colours are different.
From the packet, it says Biscuits Topped with Raspberry, Blackcurrant and Lemon Flavour Icing for both iced gems and unicorn gems.
Rating: 4/5

Tried the Iced Gem and they are pretty much the same in taste with four colours: white, lilac, purple and yellow so unicorn gems are prettier in the colour sense.

[Review] Oyakata Beef Wasabi noodles

A while ago I tried the Oyakata Miso ramen which were a bit bland but the Oyakata Japanese classic
noodles was amazing.
To summarize, the soupless noodles fron Oyakata taste better than the ones with soup.

Oyakata is basically a Polish brand of cup noodles under Ajinomoto which also has SMAK noodles series.

Anyway, this time I got the wasabi beef which I'm definitely going to get again because it is my favourite flavour so far.

When you pull the lid off, you imediately see all this generous amount of green chives.

The wasabi isn't strong but it had a nice savoury horseradish taste along with umami flavours so I definitely recommend these noodles.

M&S Marks Spencer Spare Ribs

Marks and Spencers have recently changed their Asian meals with one person takeaways etc so there have been some new additions and changes to some of their dishes.

Previously, M&S used to have Sticky Chinese Pork Ribs which were marinated in a hoisin sauce and then slow-cooked, served with a spiced soy and plum sauce and finished with a tasty pork crackling crumb.

The latest ribs on the shelves are Spare Ribs which are slow-cooked British pork ribs smothered in a sweet, sticky soy and Shaoxing rice wine sauce.

As a fan of Shaoxing wine, I had to try these ribs.

You will also find Shaoxing wine in their black bean chicken which is where I first tasted it and fell in love with this wine!

The ribs were simply a pleasure to eat as the meat fell off the bone nicely, each rib was equally meaty and uniform in size.

Overall, highly recommended but the only gripe was the sweetness.

Sainsbury's Love Your Veg risotto balls

I love risotto balls but the Sainsbury's Love Your Veg risotto balls were tasteless.
Thankfully I had some Mexicana vegan spicy cheese slices which were too salty for their own good so it made these rice balls tastier.

Product description:

Sainsburys Bakery Rhubarb Pie

I love rhubarb so when I saw the rhubarb pie at Sainsburys, I ended up getting it.

It is simply comforting and pie is definitely better than crumble in my opinion because the pie pastry is uniform and I just prefer pastry over butter crumble.

Having the rhubarb pie with cream or custard was just heavenly!
