Sainsburys Aloo Saag

The aloo saag looked good but it was very bland in taste.

Rating: 2/5

Sainsburys King Prawn Makhani with Pilau Rice

I didn't have any expectations for the Sainsburys King Prawn Makhani with Pilau Rice which turned out quite nice.
The amount of King Prawns in the curry was good but I believe they shrivelled up while reheating in the microwave but overall the texture of the prawns were nice and bouncy except for one which was a bit mushy.
If only there was more rice as there was plenty of sauce left.
I would give it 5/5 but I was still pretty hungry after the meal hence 4/5.

Sainsburys gnocchi

I love gnocchi which is something that I always order at restaurants.
You can also get the same results if you just buy gnocchi and cook it at home which I only found out recently because of the situation.
Since most gnocchi is just cooked with cheese sauces and tomato sauces, I decided to do something different while I was at it.
Ended up cooking it with an Asian twist using black beans and Thai basil which was really tasty.

Sainsburys Broccoli & Tomato quiche review

The Tomato broccoli quiche from Sainsburys looks the part but it was a bit bland.
I was expecting a nice tangy tomato flavour from the layer of tomato puree at the bottom of the quiche but it didn't seem so.
Rating: 3/5

Sainsburys Plant Pioneers No Prawn Toast

Sainsbury's own plant based Plant Pioneers brand is quite competitive and some of the items in the range can be quite good like the pork belly.
They have now taken the pork belly to the next level by pairing it with bao buns.
This post will be about the No Prawn toasts which were surprisingly good.
According to the label, it was White sliced bread topped with jackfruit, king oyster mushroom and sesame seeds.
The presentation was definitely convincing and not hard to achieve with the mock prawn paste covered in sesames seed.
There was one odd slice in the batch which clearly belonged to another piece of prawn toast as it was a different colour.
After putting it in the halogen oven, the toasts were nice and crispy but they were a bit oily so I should have blotted the oil with some tissue paper.
Despite the oil, the taste and texture was on the right track.
It strangely tasted like prawn with a bounce from the mushrooms.
Overall not bad, so you can think of it like eating a real prawn toast with a stingy layer of prawn paste with enough to give it a taste of prawns where you can't complain there are no prawns in it.
Adding lemon juice to it made it flawless.
Rating: 4/5.

Plant Pioneers no pork belly bao buns:

The pork belly is basically the same as the no pork belly bites launched for Christmas but the size is bigger paired with a bun.

Sainsbury's Panini review

I love Paninis which is something that most people would order when dining at coffee shops and all that.
They turned out surprisingly good when toasted, they were like crispy flat baguettes with a chew.
For best results, I toasted them lightly so that they were still soft in the middle.
Rating: 5/5 will definitely buying this again.

Sainsburys Macaroni Cheese

As a Macaroni cheese lover, I decided to try Sainsburys version to see how it fared.
It looked promising but when it was ready, the smell was rather overwhelming.
The taste of it as a whole was rather heavy.

Sainsburys Chanteney carrots and honey-roast parsnip soup

I am not fond of carrots but decided to try the Sainsburys Chanteney carrots and honey-roast parsnip soup anyway.

According to Sainsburys website,  it is a velvety soup with a blend of tender Chanteney carrots and caramelised honey-roast parsnips. Simmered with warming ginger and aromatic spices and finished with a splash of thick double cream.

Unfortunately, if you don't like the taste of raw carrots, it tastes exactly like raw blended carrots with a gingery flavour.

Chanteney carrots are short, fat, and broad with a rounded blunt tip which make the look like baby carrots.

Sainsburys Fresh Egg Spaghetti review

I love fresh egg pasta so when I spotted the Sainsburys Fresh Egg Spaghetti that was reduced I had to give it a try.
To be honest, egg pasta is just like ramen, so I had it as a noodle soup and also tossed in sauce which was delicious.
