[Review] Sainsbury's Peri Peri Houmous

Houmous is getting fancy these days because there are so many to choose from like beetroot houmous, Moroccan, Lemon and coriander, Pesto houmous etc.
The range of houmous at Sainsbury's is not that big compared to Morrisons or Tescos but they have Peri Peri houmous which I have not tried from the supermarkets so tried it.
The heat in the Peri Peri houmous was quite intense so be warned.
Overall ok if you can take the heat but I feel that I should try the other brands for the comparison.

[Review] beanit pan fry protein pieces

Spotted these beanit pan fry protein pieces from Sainsburys so as a foodie I had to try them.

I must admit, they didn't look very appetizing because the colour was greyish.

The first time I tried them, I didn't really add much seasoning because I wanted to see how they tasted without anything and the protein pieces were surprisingly delicious with a hint of black pepper while the texture was soft which is much nicer than chewy soya chunk.

The protein pieces are made with FAVA beans which are rich in vitamins and protein etc.

On the second time I tried it, I cooked it with black beans and the two went really well as expected.

Overall, I would definitely recommend try it.

[Review] Sainsbury's Almond Croissant

I looked twice to double check if this was an almond croissant because croissants are normally shaped like a crescent.

Usually I won't buy almond products but previously tried the iced raisin swirls from Sainsbury which had a lovely flavour so I didn't hesitate to get this.

As expected I really liked it because there was almond paste in the middle as well as crushed almonds on top.

To be honest, it looked more like a folded almond danish more than a croissant.

[Review] M&S Marks and Spencers Count on US Macaroni Cheese

I love Mac and Cheese so tried the Marks and Spencers Count on US Macaroni Cheese to see how it fares with other Mac and Cheese meals at M&S.

The Count on US series are calorie counted hence for this meal you are eating 361 calories.

As for the taste, it was still as comforting without being overly salty or cheesy like some other brands.

[Review] M&S Marks and Spencers Bramley Apple & Blackberry Pie

It is the end of summer so I thought I would treat myself to the Marks and Spencers Bramley Apple & Blackberry Pie which I consider as a summery pie with blackberries.

The pie looks captivating in the box because you can see chunky apple slices and whole blackberries which you always expect from Marks and Sparks because they never skimp on anything.

The pie cut nicely and it was delicious warmed up with cream.

The apple slices had a nice crunch but the blackberries had some pips in it but it was expected.

Pairing it with ice cream is probably the best because the pie is rather tart as a whole because of the apples and blackberries.

[Review] Birds Eye Crispy Chicken

I love fried chicken and chicken nuggets so I was captivated by the Birds Eye crispy chicken.

It would seem a wise choice to get this over chicken nuggets because it is made with 100% chicken breast according to the box.

Inside the box, you get 2 crispy chickens as stated just like the picture.

After putting it in the oven, the end product was satisfactory and tasty but I found it a bit too crunchy as I left it in the oven for too long but the chicken inside was still moist and tender.

[Review] Bradley's Jellied Eel Pots 200g

"Jellied eels are a traditional English dish that originated in the 18th century, primarily in the East End of London.

The dish consists of chopped eels boiled in a spiced stock that is allowed to cool and set, forming a jelly. It is eaten cold." Quoted from wikipedia.

They were popular in at the end of the second world war as a cheap staple for poor people, sadly there are few pie mash houses due to gentrification and the way peoples tastes have changed.

I don't know why I love jellied eels but I do especially the jelly.

The savoury jelly is just delicious with chilli vinegar.

My favourite pie mash places are in Croydon and Hoxton but a while ago due to lockdown I had to get the jellied eel pots to satisfy my cravings.

The pots tasted just as well especially my favourite jelly.
