McDonald’s create your taste International variations

I was excited with McDonalds create your taste because some non adventurous countries like Hong Kong get to “Build Your Own Burger” which is great and they have some basic ingredients which are not normally available such as mushrooms.

I was looking forward to the cheese but as expected Chinese people are not a fan of cheese hence the choices do not match up with other countries.

Currently, the build your own burger has been launched in Singapore, Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong.

It has been said to be launched in Kuwait but I haven’t been able to google anything yet.

A blooper I discovered while googling "Create your taste hong kong", Maccas spelt as Mcdoanlds!!

Basically the bun choices are the same, but cheese, sauces and bacon vary in different countries.

Singapore has turkey bacon because they do not really eat pork.

The Singaporean, Australian and New Zealand websites were great because you could see clearly the ingredients but the Hong Kong one was not user-friendly and has a small picture to summarize the choices.

McDonalds black and white coconut pie a la mode

I was excited because McDonalds launched this black and white coconut pie.
To my knowledge, there has not been a black and white coconut pie but this was served in China last August.
As well as the pie, there are the black and white burgers that are the same as last years.
For the shake shake fries seasoning there is the salt n pepper crabwhich was available a few years ago in oct, 2011.
According to my earlier review, it has a fragrant basil taste.

Anyway, I went to McD's to try the coconut pie.
It seems that different branches are offering different things, the one I went to only served the pie and icecream but according to instagram some branches just sell the pie only.

The coconut pie was quite nice with a coconut filling that was not too strong and pieces of coco de nata.

If I had a choice, I prefer it without the icecream so hopefully I can find another McDonalds that just has the pie or wait until the 4th when the pie is fully launched at all branches.

2015 McDonald's Prawn burger and pineapple pie

McDonald's have launched a new prawn burger with pineapple and a pineapple pie so tried them.

Whenever the ebi burger (prawn burger) is launched, it becomes a popular choice.
Now they have launched the ebi burger with pineapple, which basically has a slice of pineapple in the middle with the same mayonnaise sauce that they use for the chicken sandwich.

The pineapple in the burger was a bit too juicy and stole the show with its sweet flavours.
It was also difficult eating the burger because when you bite into it, you are biting against the pineapple fibres so you have to tear the pineapple.

To my knowledge the pies that have been launched before in HK are red bean and taro.
Hopefully they will launch peach as well because that would taste quite nice.

pineapple pie:

The pineapple pie filling is the same as the apple in terms of consistency and viscosity.
It has the same sort of sweetness as the apple but it has small chunks of pineapple instead and the pineapple taste is not that strong.

McDonalds - Hong Kong - Red Peri Scorcher

Found out about this new burger called the RED PERI SCORCHER from the paper.

Only noticed it because of the colourful stars which is quite similar to my openrice logo.

The red peri scorcher burger is NEW in HONG KONG but has already been launched in Singapore and Australia last year.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

RED PERI SCORCHER:

Made with Carolina Reaper chilis, habanero chilis, Naga Jolokia chilis and Peri Peri chilis.

The world's hottest chilis guarenteed to be a scorching sensation.

I really liked it because it was crispy marinated chicken thigh meat with cracker wheat and the sauce was spicy with a strong hint of lemon.

It had a really nice cajun smell just like the coating you find in Southern fried chicken.

The chili was fiery but it does not linger which is why I like African chilis.

McCurry Burger Hong Kong

WARNING: The McCurry burger is really spicy!

Tried the new McCurry burger and it was spicier than I thought it would be!!

So be warned.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
McCurry burger:
The McCurry burger is spiked with tumeric, chili, black pepper and cloves.

It is a quarter pounder topped with McCurry sauce and diced onions.
Basically the burger was REALLY spicy and this was the spiciest burger I have tried at McDonald's and it was even spicier than the chili hot wings.
There is a MEGA McCurry too which has a double quarter pounder patty.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Iced Fresh lemon tea:

Basically this was plain red tea served with lemon slices in it with a separate tub of syrup.
The bitterness of the lemon rind made the tea really bitter and the tea itself was quite bitter.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Although this was too spicy for my liking I would love to try the burgers at the McDonalds in India such as the McPaneer.
