[Review] Waitrose Spinach & Carrot Pilau Rice

The Waitrose Spinach & Carrot Pilau Rice looked appealing so grabbed a tub to try.
It is basically aromatic rice with spinach, carrots, cumin, fennel and mace.
Overall, it was not bad with curry but on its own, the fennel and mace were really strong and the grains of rice were not fluffy enough.

[Review] Waitrose No1 Sourdough bread sauce

Bread sauce has not been mentioned much but it deserves just as much attention as sage and onion stuffing.
It is another vital element in roast dinners which I think more and more restaurants should serve so that people are reminded of this classic English sauce.
During the Christmas season, you will find bread sauce mix and fresh bread sauce at the supermarket.

Bread sauce is made of milk and onion with breadcrumbs and butter added as thickeners, seasoned with nutmeg, clove, bay leaf, pepper, and salt.
Waitrose has taken bread sauce to another level with the use of Sourdough.
I was expecting the texture to be different but it was same as the regular bread sauce.
The only gripe was the taste because it was too creamy and tasteless.

[Review] Waitrose Turkey Gravy

This was another disappointing gravy from Waitrose just like the lamb gravy.
The Waitrose Turkey gravy is made with sage and Madeira wine.
It had the same issue as the lamb gravy, they both had a bitter after taste while the rosemary and thyme was too strong for me liking.

McDonalds Katsu Curry Chicken McNuggets review

Katsu curry has been the trend this year that you find it on the menu and even at the supermarkets.

The McDonalds Katsu Curry Chicken McNuggets were launched on the 30th December.

The chicken nuggets are coated in Japanese-style panko breadcrumbs and it will be served with a sweet curry dip.

For six nuggets it will set you back at £3.59.

Finally tried it and from the appearance, the coating is evidently different to the usual batter, it looks like fried chicken coating as well as Singaporean Cereal prawn coating.

As for the taste, if you try the nuggets on their own, I could strangely taste some Indian spices.

Dipping it in the Sweet curry dip, you get the sweetness as guarenteed which I wasn't keen on because the sweet curry sauce tasted like raisin curry sauce.

Overall, it is nice to have some nuggets in a vastly different coating for a change.
