Conditorei Coppenrath & Wiese Patisserie Selection review

I have always wanted to try some German cakes so ended up getting the Conditorei Coppenrath & Wiese Patisserie Selection.
To me, I feel that German cakes and English cakes are similar yet different.
The German cakes consist of a really soft fluffy sponge like the Swiss Roll and all their cakes revolve around this Swiss Roll sponge texture and lots of cream.
To summarize, I felt that al the cakes this selection was similar but in different ways because of the toppings or sauces.
Lots and lots of cream was involved so if you don't like cream then this isn't for you.
Overall, they are not bad and not too sweet.
The marzipan gateau slice, strawberry cream slice, cherry chocolate cream slice, almond cream cake and cherry cream slice were my favourites.
This would be a treat if you were in a country deprived of proper cream cakes (not UK of course but some pathetic countries in Asia just don't know how to appreciate dairy products and serve shit).

Other cakes and gateau by Conditorei Coppenrath & Wiese discovered at Poundland.

Plant based vegan Babybel

I have always wanted to try this but couldn't get hold of it until now.
Interestingly, it smells like cheese and it was quite similar to Philadelphia cheese spread but the texture is firm and the taste was mild and creamy.
Despite being made with coconut oil, I was pleased there was no coconut oil smell or taste present.

Splendid Selection White chocolate hazelnut

I am not a fan of white chocolate but I do love hazelnuts and coconut.
So when I saw these hazelnuts coated in white chocolate and coconut I thought I'd give them ago.
To my surprise, they were moreish and they are actually whole roasted hazelnuts.
The hazelnuts are definitely quality ones as they have this nice crunch and a great roasted flavour.
The white chocolate coating is not too sweet and does not mask the coconut dusting.
Interestingly, they taste a bit like pandan.

Belle & Co alcohol free sparkling review

I love alcohol free drinks which tend to be not as sweet as fizzy drinks while being stylish!
Belle & Co looked appealing so I thought I'd get some and have it over Christmas but one day I was really thirsty from some burgers so ending up opening it.
The properties of the drink was so much like champagne, you have that pop when you remove the cork and then you have this fog that comes out like  the real thing.
If I had known it would do that I would have filmed it.
Anyway, the drink is super fizzy and stays fizzy for a long time after opening.
Overall, it was really refreshing and tasted like appletize.

Cottage Desserts Black Forest Trifle

I have always wanted to try a black forest trifle but the ones you see in the supermarkets use chocolate custard!
As soon as I saw this Cottage Desserts Black Forest Trifle, I rushed to pay for it, and I was not disappointed.
To be honest, I have not seen much of this brand around so it could be a regional thing.
The cherries are not equally distributed but there were three cherries in the jelly and there is a small piece of sponge.
The most impressive thing was the jelly because it was a firm one and I mean really firm as there was some resistance when you put your spoon into it.
It does contain bovine jelly but it made the jelly delish!!
The custard and cream blended in nicely and most importantly it was fresh cream and not synthetic.
Will definitely be buying more.

Rowes Cornish Bakers mini Cornish rolls

Spotted these Cornish Rolls at ASDA and there was only one bag left so I knew I had to get it despite there was some dark stuff on it.
They are not new but rare in London especially coming from Cornwall!
As expected, they were really tasty with the usual Cornish pasty filling encased in a light puff pastry.

Simply roasted. pick and mix crisps pop up store

simply roasted. is a relatively new brand of crisps that claim to be 50% less fat and 25% less salt than other brands.
I finally got to try them at their pop up in London where they were giving out free crisps pick and mix style!
There are four flavours: black truffle, Sea Salt, Mature Cheddar & red onion and Sea Salt & Cider.
Before I mention taste, the texture has a hard crunch like Tyrells.
As for the taste, my favourite has to be the cider vinegar.
