Lidl Spicy Chicken arrabiata sourdough pizza

Again, I had no expectations from the spicy chicken arrabbiata pizza from lidl but it turned out really good.
The spicy chicken had a decent fiery kick while the pizza base and toppings were spot on but for that price tag I would buy other brands.

Other pizzas Lidl have in the range.

Lidl Meadow Fresh caramelized onion houmous & Red pepper houmous

Houmous is really fancy these days so I like trying different brands for comparison.
Caramelized houmous is quite popular so I tried Lidl's version which was surprisingly enjoyable in the sense that it had crisp chunks of caramelized onions which had a lovely sweet twang to it which can get quite sweet at the end.
Rating 3/5

Also tried the red pepper houmous which was a bit too sweet for my liking.
Rating: 3/5

Chicken and Duck sushi review - Battle of the supermarkets!

Practially almost every supermarket has chicken and duck sushi, so far I have spotted them at Tescos, Lidl and Aldi.
I don't recall any at Sainsburys or M&S but I managed to find some online.
Out of all the ones I saw, I bought the chicken and duck sushi from Lidl for 1.69.
The assortment is a winner as you get 3 pieces for hoisin duck and you also get the purple cabbage rolls.
However I don't have any expectations for the chicken because it is formed chicken according to the ingredients.
Visually there is less rice ratio to filling and the inner part of the roll is lined with seaweed so its going to be tasty.
As expected, the sushi was to my liking, the sushi rice was relatively softer compared to other brands and supermarkets and I believe they used glutinous rice.
The cabbage and duck were delicious on their own and didn't need sauce but the formed chicken was tasteless which was where the wasabi and soy sauce improved it.
I was surprised that ginger was included for Lidl standards because there wasn't any ginger in the M&S sushi I tried before and the soy sauce was also generous compared to other brands.

Tesco £2.75
Aldi £1.69
Sainsbury's Sushi Medium 165g £2.50
2 Katsu British chicken and red pepper California rolls with a sesame seeds coating, 2 hoisin British duck and cucumber California rolls with a seaweed powder coating, 1 red cabbage hosomaki roll, 1 red pepper hosomaki roll, 1 edamame bean hosomaki roll, sachet of pickled ginger, sachet of wasabi and a bottle of soy sauce.

Lidl Italian range

I'm impressed, better than the crap in hk. I don't really shop at lidl but they give you more choices per product eg gnocchi an/tortellonin and they even have ndjuda pizza which is only offered at restaurants in hk. Price wise, most items are under 3 quid. Basically hk restaurant chefs have to get inspired by other countries to serve it on the menu but then not that it would be popular with the Chinese palette. Interestingly chains like MS and Tesco can't compete with their range.

Mcennedy cherry cranberry milkshake by Lidl

If you are a regular shopper at Lidl, you will know that every now and then they will have a TASTE OF AMERICA going on in the store with Mcennedy products like pizza, corndog, fast food etc.

Milkshake is one of them, in 2016 they had so many flavours like apple pie, blueberry muffin and chocolate and in 2018 there was Bourbon Vanilla milkshake costing 49p.

This year, they had sour cherry and cranberry milkshake which I had to try as a cherry lover.

I don't know if anyone still remembers but Asda used to have thick milk shakes just like this in the 80s to 90s.

They were delicious back then especially the chocolate.

Since Lidl has a similar thing for their American food week, I decided to give it a go.

Planned to get the chocolate and cherry but cherry was the only one left and without a lid.

Frankly it was horrible, the cherry was artificial and smelled like refreshers fizzy sweets mixed with medicinal cherry dioralyte [the stuff you drink for tummy upsets].

As a sour cherry flavour, it lacked tartness if at all any.

It didn't bring me memories of asda but it certainly made me remember refreshers and dioralyte!!

Even though I didn't like it I would buy a different flavour because I think the artificial cherry flavour killed it more than anything else.

Leone Rose Cones

A few years ago Rose shaped icecream were the trend at Icecream parlours and gelato shops but there were no retail ones that you could buy and eat at home.
Last year (2020), Coop had these rose shaped cones for Valentines as well as Leone rose cones with a choice of three flavours.
I suspect Leone is the supplier for Coop because the other icecreams they do are also sold at Coop but under the Coop brand.
Anyway, I finally got my hands on Leone Rose cones because they were sold at LIDL for 1.89 for four.
The three flavours are: Blueberry cheesecake, Vanilla hazelnut and Strawberry.
Aesthetically. the strawberry and blueberry are the prettiest but as I have already tried strawberry from Coop, I was deciding between the blueberry cheesecake and vanilla hazelnut.
Ended up getting the vanilla hazelnut because I like hazelnut.
As for the taste, the vanilla top was rather bland and not at all too sweet and when you get further down there is chocolate icecream with chocolate sauce.
Overall, not a bad ice cream but taste wise I wouldn't say it tasted amazing.
