Taste of Asia at Lidl: Pineapple & Coconut lassi, Dim sum and Tofu review

As it was the taste of Asia theme at Lidl, I went to Lidl for a peek to see what was on offer and I ended up getting some pineapple & coconut lassi, Vitasia tofu with vegetables marinade and Dim Sum selection.
The pineapple & coconut lassi was really good because it was like runny pineapple yoghurt with a coconut aftertaste.

It appears that the lid is missing just like the McEnnedy milkshakes sold earlier.

I haven't tried the dim sum yet but I don't expect it to be good because there is a lot of water content in the dimsum so it will either turn out too soft and sticky or chewy.

M&S Crispy Katsu Chicken Curry (Taste Japan)

Although I eat almost everything from Marks and Spencers, this is probably the first Japanese inspired item to try.

It is Crispy fried chicken with ginger and garlic rice and an aromatic curry sauce.

I didn't know what to expect but you have to heat the chicken separately if you are using the microwave.

The chicken came out beautifully crispy but I didn't do it justice by slicing it to serve like how it is served in restaurants.

Overall, M&S were smart to have it come in one piece so that it does not get dry when you put it in the oven.

The chicken was simply delicious with the rice, sadly the curry sauce was too sweet for my liking but since I had some M&S Yakisoba sauce, they went really well together as the yakisoba sauce was really tangy.

West Country Custard

Not a bad custard, the West Country Custard was thick and creamy and not too sweet.

It was nice with puddings.

Nestle curiously cinnamon churros

Basically churros shaped cheerios.
Would love to see the reactions from Mexicans and the Spaniards.
As well as cereals I think they make great softserve toppings and cake decorations. 

As I had a fair bit left, I crushed them and topped them on rhubarb to make rhubarb crumble.

M&S Marks and Spencers Our Best Ever Macaroni & Cheese

It's been a while since the Best Ever Mac was out but everytime I picked it up I put it down because I thought it would be overwhelming as it has quite a few cheeses in it.
According to the label, it is Free-range egg pasta blended with cave-aged Cheddar cheese for richness, pecorino for bite, Emmental for nutty sweetness and stringy mozzarella for a perfectly melted ooze, topped with roasted garlic oil breadcrumbs, crispy onions and fresh parsley.

The only cheese I was not fond was the stringy mozzarella because I just don't like stringy cheese that is elastic and does not break.

To my surprise, the mac and cheese was surprisingly good and not too cheesy. The crispy crumbs on top were not too hard and had a light crispiness to it.

Overall, the crumbs and crispy onions took it to the next level and the stringy cheese gives it that extra wow factor but I just don't like the stringy texture.

Co Op (coop) Cherry Bakewell Ice Cream

I have been eyeing this Co Op cherry bakewell ice cream for a while mainly because I haven't seen other brands of supermarkets do it.

It is smooth almond flavour ice cream with a cherry sauce and digestive crumb.

Luckily it tasted good or I would be doomed with such a big tub of icecream.

Overall it wasn't too sweet and the cherry sauce was nice.

The icecream itself is quite soft and creamy and you get a strong cherry bakewell aftertaste in your mouth so it depends if you like this or not.

Cadbury Wispa Gold

Basically, this is your usual lovely bubby wispa with a layer of caramel on top.
Overall, not too cloyingly sweet.
