[Review] Jerk Pork by The Old Fashioned Chef, Croydon Surrey Street Market

If you eat a lot of Caribbean food, it is often Jerk Chicken but not pork.
As well as Jerk pork, you can now find Jerk with an English twist like Jerk sausage which I tried in Walthamstow.

Anyway, The Old Fashioned Chef is a stall that serves Jerk every Saturday and Sunday at Surrey Street Market.
You can not miss them because you can smell the BBQ a mile away from the smoke plume which is coming off from oil drums and the sounds of meat being chopped by chef Ken Winston.

There are always long queues for the food so you just have to be patient.

Some people will travel all the way for the Jerk pork and so did I.
When you see Ken chop the meats, it is similar to how they chop and serve the roast meats in Hong Kong.

After a long wait, I finally got my jerk pork with rice and peas.

The taste was amazing and just how I expected it to be.
It was basically pork belly marinated in Jerk, it was delicious with a good degree of heat from the chillies while the pork belly was meaty with a crisp surface.
Some customers like the pork belly fat while I like it balanced.
Anyway, the Jerk Pork here is a must try and definitely a million times better than Hong Kong roast meats.
