I love caramel anything so I was captivated by the Twix Chocolate & Caramel Cake which was on promotion at Tescos for £2 with a clubcard.
Had it not been for the clubcard promotion I probably would have not bothered at £3.
Having the cake at room temperature, it was quite nice in the sense that it was not too sweet and the chocolate balls on top were chocolate coated biscuits which is like the TWIX biscuit base.
The only thing I did not like was the chocolate frosting because it leaves a oily film on your tongue that doesn't quite melt in your mouth.
I also tried the cake warm by putting it in the microwave for 15 secconds which makes the cake nice and soft where the chocolate frosting and caramel filling goes gooey.
Having it with custard would be ideal but when the chocolate frosting is hot, the melted oils in it are apparent.
Overall, not worthy at full price for £3 but worthy trying at £2 because not often do you see a twix cake.
As for £3 I would rather buy Mary Berry's cakes which are spot on in terms of the cake and frosting.
