I love how the food industry is really evolving and bringing out all these different and bold flavours as more and more people are getting adventurous.
Soreen used to have solely malt loaves and these few years they have been coming out with fruity choices that are popular with kids like toffee apple and orange etc.
Soreen have gone a step further with a healthy twist by adding fruit and vegetables with the new Soreen Fruit & Veg-mmms bakes: Orange & Rainbow carrot bakes and Berry & Beetroot bakes which cost £1.75 at TESCOS.
Interestingly, Kelloggs also have cereal bars with the exact flavours.
It was more like a choice between orange and berry because I wouldn't expect the carrot or beetroot flavours to be bold but acting as a colour agent. As soon as I opened the outer bag, I could smell an artificial berry aroma.
To be honest, the new berry & beetroot bakes tastes exactly like blueberry hubba bubba chewing gum!!
It was no surprise because manufacturers like to make the commonly accepted flavours dominant and the not so accepted like beetroot less prominent and as a colouring so people won't say yuck.
Natural beetroot should be sweet and earthy which I could not taste.
If you have a burping problem, you will be burping up blueberry aroma in no time!
There is also an orange with rainbow carrot bakes which I expect to taste like orange.
