Dreyer's D Collection Champagne & Strawberry Limited edition

Walked past and saw the poster for this which I thought was mango because of the colour, but when I walked closer found out that it was Champagne & Strawberry so I went in and got the last tub!

The taste did not taste like real strawberry or have any champagne or alcoholic flavour to it.

It tasted like the strawberry flavoured opal fruits/Starburst fruit chews which are a British sweet.

Tao Ti Ginger tea with brown sugar

Saw this new ginger tea drink and the packaging was quite nice so I got it.

The fieryness of the ginger is quite strong, if you take a sip and do not swallow it, you can feel the fieryness on your tongue.
After you swallow it, there is a slight tingling sensation on the throat.

However I found the sweetness too sweet.

Ace Summer yuzu and chicken noodles

Got these noodles because they seemed refreshing as it had grapefruit and chicken.

When I removed the lid, there were two sachets, one for condiments and the other was soup.

The condiments sachet had dehydrated: cabbage, bok-choy, seasoned minced chicken, corn, green onion, and red pepper.
As for the soup powder I was slightly disappointed because the grapefruit smell was really faint.

After adding hot water and letting it to stand 3 minutes they were ready to eat.

The prominent flavour I could taste was just grapefruit peel and that was not very pleasant.
I was expecting a strong chicken flavouring with a refreshing touch of citrus or grapefruit.
The labelling is quite interesting it has a table of all the ingredients and the ones that are in these noodles are highlighted.

Signature 7 Shrimp Mayo turkey loaf wheat sandwich

This is a French inspired sandwich, which does not appear to be French apart from the printed flag on the sandwich cover.
Basically it just has grounded prawns, a piece of turkey and lettuce in the sandwich.
I found the sandwich quite soggy and it just basically tasted sweet.

7-Signature ZERO Kcal grapefruit soda

As expected it tasted really artificial because when drinks claim to be low in calories or not so sweet it contains those modified sugars which taste horrible.

7-SIGNATURE Lobster and Tobiko salad sandwich

7-SIGNATURE Lobster and Tobiko salad sandwich 龍蝦蟹籽沙律三文治

Apart from trying the Crabmeat and Mentaiko salad sandwich (http://supersupergirl-food.blogspot.com/2012/04/7-signature-mentaiko-and-crab-meat.html), this was the other one I wanted to try too.

It had much more filling compared to the other one.

I felt that there was some confusion with the Chinese labelling and English because of the Tobiko.
Tobiko (とびこ, in Japanese) is the Japanese word for the flying fish roe used to create certain types of sushi.
But the Chinese description said 蟹籽 which is not tobiko.

Anyway, the lobster and tobiko filling is peach coloured and most probably food colouring.
The filling was quite soft and puree like.
I found it really sweet and the lobster was tasteless.

7-SIGNATURE Mentaiko and Crab meat salad sandwich 明太子蟹肉沙律三文治

I was attracted by these sandwiches because they were not the usual boring ones.
The one I got was Mentaiko with crab meat and salad and the other one was Lobster and crab roe.

The sandwich tasted great but the filling could have been evenly spread, the first side had a corner that had no filling and when I had the second half of the sandwich there was less filling on that side as well!
But overall, the colour of the filling and the cucmber was nice and it tasted like western prawn cocktail salad even though it was crab.
The only downside was that it was too sweet and there was not enough filling.

Japanese rice burgers @ 7-11

This is really tempting to try, a choice of either chicken or beef patty burger sandwiched in between some rice! (Rice burger).

Anyway, I tried both. It was interesting because the rice used was glutinous rice and not pearl rice.
I do not like pearl rice anyway.
Althought it is Japanese, it is manufactured in Thailand!!!

Grilled Chicken rice burger:
I prefer chicken as opposed to beef because there are less fatty bits and tendons in it.
If your expecting a strong taste, this burger is quite bland, but as I like chicken it was really nice and the whote thing was not too dry.
The rice burger was really nice because it was chewy al-dente glutinous rice which is rare for Japanese food.

Spicy pork rice burger:
There was visually quite alot of chopped coriander in it but the taste of coriander was not that strong, but the spicyness was quite strong.

7-11 exclusive assorted lo mei and roasted spring chicken

Got two products from "Tang Shun Hing" packaged exclusively for 7-11.

Although they are designed to be heated up and eaten at 7-11, it proves to be messy and a sticky task. The contents of the food are packed in a vacuumed sealed bag, with a plastic tray and a pair of gloves, you need to open the inner bag, empty the contents into the dish and simply microwave it.

Hence very troublesome to carry out at your local 7-11, also the tray is not really deep enough.

I got the Lo Shui purely because it was pre-packaged, it horrifies me to get them from restaurants from metal trays by the windows with oil dripping off, flies buzzing around them and the exposure to sunlight through the windows.

The Lo Shui mix contains duck wings, ducks feet, ducks liver, ducks gizzard, and peanuts, and the spring roasted chicken was just half of a spring chicken. I thought it would be a whole chicken, but it was just half a bird.

After microwaving it, it was ready to eat.

The Lo Shui mix was quite nice, although for the ducks feet and wings, it only contained one piece each. All of the items were quite soft, except for the duck’s liver, which I was quite looking forward to, it probably got dehydrated during the heating process.

The gizzards, which I do not usually eat, were the best that I have had, the texture was a bit like baby pork shanks. They were evenly sliced, not looking like shrivelled up gonads from Chinese medicine places. The only thing that let it down was the saltiness of all the lo shui items.

As for the spring chicken, it just tasted ok.

Laksa noodles by Signature 7-11

I nearly got the Red curry with ginger flavoured rice at 7-11, but then I saw the Laksa bowl so I got that instead.

I was hesitant about getting it, because I am more accident-prone with bowls than dishes.
Anyway, I removed the plastic wrapping surrounding the bowl and the lid.
There was a pouch of laksa soup with noodles, fishballs and fish slices beneath the pouch.
I found the pouch really difficult to tear open even with the perforations so I think the people eating at 7-11 most probably need scissors.

There were not much noodles in that bowl and the soup covered it completely.

The proportion was about 1/4 noodles and 3/4 soup.
After heating it for 4 minutes in the microwave, it was ready to eat.
The noodles strands were mostly broken which made it hard to pick up with chopsticks, hence a spoon was needed.

The Laksa soup tasted strong of ginger and chilli, the taste is very similar to the curry sauce from 7-11s fishballs but in watery form.
The MSG was very strong because I felt thirsty all day.
The Laksa bowl cost around $13 but not very filling!

Hung Fook Tong's Wolfberry and longan drink

Tasted quite nice and pleasant, the longan taste was strong, however the wolfberry couldnt be tasted.
The colour of the drink was clear brown.
