[Review] Jake & Nayn's Naanster Chicken Tikka and Chickpea

Jake & Nayn's Naansters is basically a naan folded over like Calzone filled with tasty ingredients such as Beef Madras, Chicken Tikka etc.

Got the chicken tikka and had it reheated.

The taste was quite good and the chicken tikka filling was quite satisfying with a good degree of spiciness.

Also tried Chickpea curry which contains chickpeas, pilau rice and mango sauce.
Again quite spicy but I liked this one more than the chicken because I found the rice comforting and filling.

[Review] Tesco finest tarte au citron

Tried Tescos finest tarte au citron which is basically a lemon tart.
I found the lemon curd super acidic while the pastry was a bit too buttery for my liking.

[Review] Greggs Apple danish and yumyum

I love cream donuts and anything with cream, so on this visit got the Apple Danish.
Strangely, it is only available in certain areas according to the media.

To be honest, it does not look like a danish as it is basically an iced bun filled with apple and cream.
Anyway, the apple danish definitely satisfies your sweet cravings filled with fresh cream, apple chunks and icing.

Also tried yum yun which was quite nice but it was quite sweet.

[Review] Greggs Vegan Sausage Rolls

Sausage rolls are a popular pastry in the UK.
Fortunately, they now do Vegan sausage rolls which means vegans can get their fair share.
The ones at Greggs are made with Quorn and the price tag is only £1!

Queues at Greggs are endless so I seized the chance and got one when there was a quiet moment.

I was super impressed after taking a bite.
The pastry was lighter and not as oily.

The taste of the vegan sausage filling was exactly like the real thing with a salmon colour.
The texture was definitely like the real sausage roll but I would describe it like pink slime but not as oily as the meat sausage which I also tried for comparison.

After trying the vegan sausage roll, the meat version was definitely heavier and the pastry was more oily.

[Review] McVities Jaffa Cakes Strawberry - Limited Edition

Traditionally Jaffa Cakes are have an orange filling but these days there have been new fillings like lime and other fancy fruits.
This time it was McVities Jaffa Cakes with a Strawberry filling.
Basically it was the same visually but filled with strawberry in the middle.
Overall, I liked it as strawberries can never go wrong and the dark chocolate complements it nicely.
I hope they will launch other fillings like cherry, raspberry, blackcurrant etc.

[Review] Marks and Spencers Raspberry Yum Yums

I love Yum Yums which are twisted dough coated in icing.
At Marks and Sparks they had Raspberry ones which were fancier than the plains ones.
My instinct was that the plains ones were going to be better but decided to try the raspberry ones which looked like donuts.
According to the label, they were Raspberry Yum Yums filled with raspberry fruit curd with fine raspberry fondant.

Unfortunately, it was too sweet overall and the raspberry curd was disappointing as it tasted and looked like clear raspberry jam.

[Review] Island Delight Jamaican Patties - Lamb & Jerk Chicken

A Jamaican patty is a pastry that contains various fillings and spices baked inside a flaky shell, often tinted golden yellow with an egg yolk mixture or turmeric.
It is made like a turnover, but is more savoury and filled with meat.
(quoted from Wiki)
Normally I get fresh patties from Jamaican shops but you can also find ready made Jamaican patties by Island Delights at the supermarket so I decided to try them.

The Lamb and Chicken were purchased from Sainsburys.

It is best to put them in the over as microwaving it will result in a soft pastry.
As I just couldn't wait, I microwaved it as I wasn't bothered about the soft pastry.
There was a reasonable amount of filling in the middle with a good level of spices in it that wasn't really spicy.
The lamb meat was a bit chewy, not top quality meat but overall worth trying.
The jerk chicken fared much better and the chicken was really tasty.
Attended IFE2022 so I got to sample the Salt Fish which is now my new favourite because the filling is really flavourful but in a fishy way.
