Fry's spicy 3 bean pasty review and Beef style chilli pasty

A while ago I tried Fry's vegan sausage roll which was not that memorable.
This time I tried the three bean pasty which was rather bland even though it just had a spicy kick.

Update Feb 2021.

[Review] M&S Marks and Spencers Main for two Vegetarian Kiev

Tried the Marks and Spencers Main for two Vegetarian Kiev which is made with mushrooms, sweetcorn, brown rice, petit pois filled with a garlic sauce.

The taste reminded me of the the vegetable deluxe patties at McDonalds which are discontinued because there was a hint of curry in the taste.
Overall, it was quite nice.

[Review] Tescos 6 Vegan Vegetable Burgers 340g

Tried Tescos Vegan Vegetable Burgers which are made with carrot, sweetcorn, peas, red pepper and potato.
The vegetable patty had a nice texture but the red peppers were a bit overwhelming for me so it depends if you like the ingredients used.

[Review] Tesco Vegetarian Cheese & Onion Crispbakes

Previously tried some delicious vegetable cheese grills from Tescos.
As the Tesco Vegetarian Cheese & Onion Crispbakes were similar, got them as well.

To be honest, they were quite disappointing because the onions tasted weird and they were a bit too crunchy but not the crisp texture I was hoping for.

[Review] Daiya Peach Yoghurt Alternative

This was my first time consuming a non dairy yoghurt and the taste was amazing.
There are three flavours in the range by Daiya Foods : strawberry, blueberry and Peach.
As it is made with coconut cream I chose peach because it would go with coconut if the coconut taste was strong.
Ripped off the lid and I was in for a surprise as the texture was like pudding.
Moving on to the taste, it was so amazing, firstly it wasn't too sweet, then the peach hit me with a little savoury aftertaste.
The coconut taste that I was expecting wasn't there.
Definitely going to buy this again because it is so damn delicious.

[Review] Tesco Meat Free 2 Chicken Style Cheesy Garlic Kievs 250G

Tried Tesco Meatless #chickenkiev
The texture was spot on but the filling let it down.
As well as Tescos, there are other meatless chicken brands, meatless chicken kievs out there which I will try if I can get hold of them.

[Review] Tesco 4 Vegetarian Cauliflower Cheese Grills 397G

Tried Tesco Vegetarian Cauliflower Cheese Grills which are a frozen product that you reheat in the oven or by grilling.
Reheated them in the oven and simply had them in burger buns.
They were surprisingly delicious as the patties were fluffy and cheesy with pieces of cauliflower in it.

There is a similar product cheese and onion grills at Tesco which I felt was not as tasty as this because the frozen onions did not taste that nice when it was heated.

TESCO 8 Meat Style burgers made with soya

Not a fan of beef patties so got the Soya patties.
They were tasteless so adding sauce makes it taste better.

Having the soya patties with cheese in a bun:

Vegetable jelly

Normally jellies are fruit flavoured but I happened to come across one that was made of vegetables by a Japanese brand called Woody Village.
On the side of the cup, it shows the vegetables that are in the jelly.

After peeling the lid, you can see tomato seeds in the jelly.

There were bits and pieces of vegetables in it.
As for the taste, there was a strong tomato taste but I didn't like it because it tasted artificially sweet which is really weird because tomatoes are not meant to be sweet.

There was also carrot jelly as well so I wonder how that would taste.

Heavenly egg free mayonnaise by Hampton Creek Foods

Just Mayo is cholesterol-free, egg free, dairy free, soy free, lactose free, gluten free, vegan, kosher and non-GMO mayonnaise which comes in two flavours Just Mayo and Chipotle Mayo.

I was so lucky to get my hands on a jar of Just Mayo from Hampton Creek Foods!!

When I opened the jar, there was a definate mayonnaise smell.
The mayonnaise looked thick but it was effortlessly spreadable and the knife glides in it so well.
I tried it on its own and it was so similar to Hellmans but it had a stronger lemony kick.

Anyway, I slapped it generously on my bread knowing that it was cholesterol free.
Plain bread and mayonnaise was just delicious!!
Next time I will use it as a dip with chips!!

I am not a vegetarian, but since the Vegetarian version tastes as good as real mayonnaise and good for your health, I would definitely buy Just Mayo!!

Just Mayo is made with yellow peas and will be available in the UK in the next few months, so watch out!

Hampton Creek Foods have also developed this product called Eat the Dough (made with sorghum flour) which a cookie dough that you can bake up or safely eat raw (no risk of salmonella!).
Look out for Just Scramble, a plant-based scrambled "egg" that will be available later this year!

iVeggie Hydroponic baby leaves

A nice cup of baby leaves with dressing.

I got it because they were Hydroponic leaves meaning they were grown in water without soil.

In the cup were: Mizuna, rocket, oak leaf lettuce, red asian mustard and Chinese flat cabbage.

The leaves without the sauce has a strong mustard like taste but after adding some dressing it enhanced the salad more because it was slightly sweet.

McDonalds: South Africa

McDonalds in South Africa
http://www.mcdonalds.co.za/

The website had English and it was the simplest website of all the McDonalds, there was nothing fancy about it!

Found two items of interest: Grilled chicken foldover and the vegetarian burger.
